Fun Fact!  Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, a day honoring the men and women who served in the Military.

Originally known as Decoration Day, a designated time to decorate the gravestones of many of the roughly 620,000 people killed in the Civil War. It originated in the years following the Civil War.  By the conclusion of World War, I the focus shifted from honoring those killed on Civil War battlefields to all men and women who had died while fighting for the United States and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Memorial Day 2022 will occur on Monday, May 30.

Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings, and participating in parades. In our church today we will also be remembering all our loved ones that have gone to be with our Lord.

Unofficially Memorial Day marks the beginning of the summer season.
